If you're a bride who's taking matters into your own hands and braving the waters of do-it-yourself wedding planning, you may be wondering if there's any way to make your at-home projects look sophisticated enough to appear as though they were professionally done...starting with your wedding invitations. Have no fear sister! When it comes to your invites, this is SO possible. It's all about resources and an eye for the glamorous. And by the end of this post, you'll have both.

Each of these tricks were inspired not only by my own wedding, but by the stylish work of INVITESITE. 1. TEXTURE
Look for stationery that has an interesting texture. I'm talking about wrinkles, bumps, embossed modern flowers etc.

2. EMBELLISHMENT
Silky bows, metallic studs, natural fiber ties, organza ribbon...these are the focal points that will turn your wedding invitations from drap to fab.

3. SHINE
Nothing says red carpet better than shimmer. A little shine to your invite papers will create a rich look that will help you set the tone for your elegant wedding.

4. COLOR
Obvious, but a critical factor nonetheless. Choose one of your primary wedding colors either as the base stationery piece accented by a more neutral embellishment OR vice versa. Bold is better if you want your invitations to be memorable.
5. SHAPE
Unusual shapes that are less conventional will pleasantly surprise your guests when they receive your wedding invitation. By making them think a little, you create an experience that will make your guests feel like they are opening a gift.
